please be aware that the palestinian BDS national committee has an official list of companies you are currently encouraged to boycott, and it is not the same as what is included in this graphic. while this post is partially correct in encouraging targeted vs untargeted boycotts (see the second image below for why this is important), it is also vital that everybody is on the same page as to what specifically is being targeted
as of october 23rd 2023 (the date the above graphics were tweeted) and october 30th 2023 (the official website) the companies that BDS is specifically targeting are:
- AXA
- Puma
- Carrefour
- HP
- Siemens
- Ahava
- Sodastream
- Sabra
as the graphic indicates the BDS movement supports & encourages the additional boycotts of dominos, mcdonalds, papa john's, pizza hut, and burger king. disney and starbucks are not explicitly mentioned by their official channels at the present time. if consumers choose to boycott these companies as well it should be in addition to & not instead of the companies on the official list
as a general rule, please avoid sharing boycott lists & graphics that do not come directly from the BDS movement themselves or which do not reflect the list currently on their website. circulating incomplete or inaccurate lists, even when they're as small as the above, is just as confusing and misleading to the consumer as those massive 60-brand long lists
Reminder again that Sabra = Obela in Australia and Aotearoa! Don't buy Obela hummus!
I'm the "voting is good" guy but I intend to direct basically all of my you-should-vote energy next year towards the reelection of the 18 progressives who've stuck their necks out to call for an Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire. They've dedicated themselves to a basic standard of human decency, and for it they will be punished with an immense tidal wave of financial and political resources seeking to get them kicked out of office, to say nothing of the threats against their lives. Biden's on his own.
This is why I honestly feel like Biden was the best possible choice in a shitty situation, even with his age and potential health issues. Because if nothing else, he is NOT REACTIONARY. He is methodical and dedicated. Do I wish he acted a little faster and with more of an eye towards progressive policies? Obviously yes. But given the choices, and given everything else that’s happened, Biden has absolutely made the best of a bad situation. Sometimes you don’t need a hero, you need a fucking repairman to come and just make it work until it can be fixed. And he’s a damn good repairman.
Okay, I’ll give him the W for this one.
This is his biggest problem unfortunately. He’s the kind who “doesn’t want to gloat” but he NEEDS to let people know what he’s accomplishing! Most young voters are never going to see this article and just remember him “busting the strike.” The Democrats need to learn how to do a victory lap.
every time a fag is born she is cosmically linked to at least one dyke out there. when they find each other they will have the most beautiful friendship
This generation is too comfortable with casually dropping slurs
Btw you can be intensely critical of the Democratic party and recognize that it is full of aged out of touch moderates who are refusing to meet the urgency of the moment,
and also recognize that voting for Democrats is extremely important because it allows things like the confirmation of Justices and prevents the literal fascist party from gaining more power and that harm reduction is an important end in itself
These things can coexist
Politics is a long game. Being disappointed and angry today does not obviate your responsibility to participate
THE FUCKING ICE REPORT AAAAAAAAAAA
https://americandragnet.org/
"When you think about government surveillance in the United States, you likely think of the National Security Agency or the FBI. You might even think of a powerful police agency, such as the New York Police Department. But unless you or someone you love has been targeted for deportation, you probably don’t immediately think of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
This report argues that you should. Our two-year investigation, including hundreds of Freedom of Information Act requests and a comprehensive review of ICE’s contracting and procurement records, reveals that ICE now operates as a domestic surveillance agency. Since its founding in 2003, ICE has not only been building its own capacity to use surveillance to carry out deportations but has also played a key role in the federal government’s larger push to amass as much information as possible about all of our lives. By reaching into the digital records of state and local governments and buying databases with billions of data points from private companies, ICE has created a surveillance infrastructure that enables it to pull detailed dossiers on nearly anyone, seemingly at any time.
